Anton Paar SportsTec GmbH
Discovering and fostering talent with skills.lab
High-tech training and analysis systems
Under the name skills.lab, Anton Paar brings its measurement technology expertise into professional sports: innovative training systems help athletes unlock their full potential – and support decision-makers in making more informed choices. The skills.lab training systems provide high-quality, objective performance data, which decision-makers can combine with their own experience and subjective assessment to determine the best path for athletic development.
Founded 2016
After entering the ball sports business in 2013, the company was established in 2016 as a subsidiary of Anton Paar Group AG.
Laser sensors and image-based methods for precise player tracking
The ball machines of the skills.lab Arena shoot balls at different heights into the field for the training players. Using laser sensors and image-based methods, parameters such as passing and shooting accuracy, ball control time, shot speed, and the player’s position in the system are measured precisely.
20 meters in diameter
The skills.lab Arena offers a miniature replica of a stadium with a diameter of around 20 meters. This size allows training for nearly all relevant game actions. The hexagonal shape of the arena and the placement of the ball machines in the corners maximize the playable surface.
FC Bayern Munich and other major names in football
FC Bayern Munich is just one of the well-known customers. In addition, Lech Poznań (POL), Legia Warsaw (POL), FC Ingolstadt (GER), as well as the COPA Soccer Training Center in California (USA) use the systems of Anton Paar SportsTec GmbH.
90+ exercises
More than 90 different interactive exercises can be carried out in the skills.lab Arena.
320 m²
That is the size of the skills.lab Arena. The hexagon-shaped stadium provides a real football experience in an interactive 360° high-tech environment. Five of the six sides are used for play, while one is used to visualize results in real time.
The areas of business in detail

Objective talent identification
Recognizing and fostering talents with their unique strengths at an early stage: in the skills.lab Studio, players’ cognitive abilities are measured objectively and can therefore be compared transparently. These include, for example, working memory, cognitive flexibility, and inhibition.

Sports Entertainment
With the skills.lab Cube, Anton Paar SportsTec GmbH offers a solution in the field of customer and fan engagement: on 16 square meters of space, players can complete various training sessions at different levels. In stores and shopping centers, such as the FC Bayern World in Munich, the system is a highlight for visitors.

Individually tailored training
Training programs personalized for each player to work specifically on cognitive and technical skills: together with the coach, training plans can be created. The skills.lab Arena is also ideally suited for returning after an injury break, as individual techniques can be practiced in isolation and data from previous performance tests serve as an objective benchmark for the rehabilitation process.

ISO 50001:2018
