About the Anton Paar Group

The Anton Paar Group, headquartered in Graz, is an international company that unites six diverse subsidiaries under one roof – from innovative measurement technology and smart automation to sports technology and real estate projects.

Since 2003, the company has been owned by the non-profit Santner Private Foundation, which uses its funds exclusively for charitable purposes – underlining our long-term commitment to responsibility and the common good.
What defines us? We believe that true success can only be achieved as a team. More than 4,600 colleagues in over 110 countries work together every day toward our goals. For us, success means creating an environment where people enjoy working – safe, long-term, and with tasks that have meaning. We want to provide space for development, for personal growth, and for the good feeling of making a difference with one’s own abilities.

Precision and innovation for over 100 years

The success story of the Anton Paar Group began in 1922 with the opening of Anton Paar’s one-man locksmith’s shop. From this, a company active worldwide has since emerged.

1922 Establishment of Anton Paar

Opening of Anton Paar’s one-man locksmith’s shop in Graz.

1957 The first scientific instrument

Production of the small-angle X-ray camera developed by Otto Kratky – the same measuring principle is still used today.

1963 Ulrich Santner takes over management of the company

With his innovative ideas, he laid the foundation for the company’s later expansion in the field of measurement technology.

1997 Friedrich Santner joins the management team

Together with his father-in-law, Friedrich Santner takes over the management of the company.

2003 Santner Charitable Private Foundation as new owner of the company

The foundation uses its income to support non-profit research in the natural sciences and engineering, as well as addiction prevention and the rehabilitation of people with addictions.
